Motion
How to Describe an Object in Motion
To describe an object’s motion, you must be able to describe its position relative to a reference frame
reference frame: a set of coordinates that can be used to determine positions and velocities of objects in that frame
ex: the Earth
Speed
refers to how fast an object is moving in terms of how far it moved in a given amount of time
Velocity
the measure of speed in a given direction
distinguishes direction
it is important to know the magnitude
magnitude: distance or quantity
formula: v = 🔼d/🔼t
v: velocity
🔼: change in
d: displacement
t: time
