The Bill of Rights
Amendment I:
Freedom of religion, freedom of assembly (peacefully), freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom to petition against the government. [RASPP]
Amendment II:
Right to bear arms; states can have a well-regulated militia (National Guard)
Amendment III:
No quartering troops (unless in times of war)
Amendment IV:
Officials need warrants in order to search/seize things and they need to have probable cause.
Amendment V:
Plead the 5th, Eminent Domain (Gov can take property but must pay for it), Grand Jury (determines if trials are legible), Double Jeopardy (can be charged for the same crime twice), Due Process (process the law has to go through to punish a person). [PEGDD]
Amendment VI:
Location of Trial, Attorney, Witness, Jury, Informed of Charges, Fair and Speedy Trial [LAW JIC FST]
Amendment VII:
Right to a jury in civil court.
Amendment VIII:
No excessive bail or fines, no cruel or unusual punishment.
Amendment IX:
You have more rights than listed in the Constitution
Amendment X:
Any things not listed in the constitution as a part of the federal government are a part of the state government.
