The Bill of Rights comes from the Magna Carta of 1215

due process - the goverment must treat people fairly and follow established legal procudures before tkaing away their life liberty or property

Example of due process: if someone is accused of a crime, they have the right to know the charges against them have an attorney and have a fair trial before being punished

Equal protection - the government must treat individuals in similar conditions equally under the law, regardless of their race, gender, or economic status.

An Example of equal protection: a public university cannot deny a student admission solely because of their race. Students must be treated equally
