Types of nouns
Collective nouns: Uses one word that names a group of people, animals or things. The word groups thing together for us.
Abstract nouns are defined as a type of noun that you can't see, touch or otherwise directly experience by any of the human senses. They are naming words for an idea, quality, or state rather than a concrete object, e.g. truth, danger, happiness.
Concrete nouns: Refers to a physical object in the real world, such as a dog, a ball, or an ice cream cone.
Compound nouns: A compound noun is a noun made up of two or more existing words, e.g. cat food or playgroup. It can also fall under any of the four categories of nouns listed earlier.
Common nouns: are things that you can see, touch and feel
Proper nouns: Proper nouns are always spelt with a capital letter. They are names of places, people and things.
