The Structuring of Time and the Christian Calendar
The Christian year, also called the liturgical year, is a way that many Christians have ordered the 365-day year. It does not depend on the positions of the sun or moon, but because of God's presence in time in the person of Jesus Christ, time is sacred and for Christians time is marked in relation to Christ and key aspects of his life that have been coordinated with the solar calendar. The liturgical year begins with the First Sunday of Advent and concludes with the Solemnity of Christ the King.
