Cytoplasm vs Protoplasm

PROTOPLASM

Protoplasm is a jellylike, colorless, substance in which nutrients such as proteins, fats, carbohydrates, mineral salt, and water are present.

Protoplasm includes every single thing inside of the cell, it is the substance of the whole cell. (The whole package)

CYTOPLASM

Cytoplasm actually has a similar definition of the Protoplasm: A thick, jellylike substance. It is in the Protoplasm where it is in the middle of the cell that only doesn’t include the Nucleus.

The reason for this is that it just stop where the nucleus begins, the nuclear membrane. Because the nucleus has its own protective wall. it is considered its own separate compartment with its own unique name
