Differentiating Left & Right Bones, Bony Landmarks, etc.
The Clavicle (do not need to know left and right)
the clavicle has the ACROMIAL and the STERNAL end.
the acromial end articulates with the humerus, meaning it is closer to the shoulder.
the sternal end articulates with the sternum (chest area).
note, STERnal and STERnum
The Scapula
you need to look at the posterior side of the scapula!
the right scapula will have the glenoid cavity facing right. there will be a spine of the scapula that is medial to the vertrebral column, and therefore, lateral to said column. SAME FOR LEFT!!
REMEMBER THAT WE ASSUME THAT THE BODY IS ALWAYS IN ANATOMICAL POSITION
The Humerus (the “arm bone”)
goes from your shoulder to your elbow
looks similar to femur BUT the humerus has a neck that connects to the head of the humerus
the side of the head is PROXIMAL & MEDIAL to the body
the lesser tubercle is on the anterior side of the bone!!!!!!
the capitulum is on the anterior side of the bone and is lateral to the body
