  • Started as sports before Malaysia's independence.

  • Promoted aggressively in the 1980s due to the "National Sports Policy" by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).

  • Malaysia Physical Recreation Council (MARFIMA) established in the 1980s by KBS.
