RAO Sternum
15-20 degree oblique, RAO. Places sternum over heart shadow. Less obliquity is required for larger body habitus.

SC Joints - RAO/LAO
10-15 degree oblique. RAO shows right SC joint, LAO shows left SC joint. Joint of interest will be visible just lateral to the spine.

Ribs bilateral obliques - AP
45 degree oblique, RPO/LPO. Side of interest is closest to IR - RPO shows right side elongated, LPO shows left side elongated.
Ribs bilateral obliques - PA
45 degree oblique, RAO/LAO. Side of interest is away from IR - RAO shows left side elongated, LAO shows right side elongated.
Hints: PA = Away; AO = Away
Ribs unilateral obliques
45 degree oblique. AP (RPO/LPO) will have side of interest closest to IR, PA (RAO/LAO) will have side of interest away from IR. Be sure to switch IR to lengthwise and that the spine is included.
Esophagram - RAO
Prone, 35-40 degree RAO position. Right arm down by side, left arm up, head facing the side. Projects the esophagus between the spine and the heart shadow.

UGI - RAO
Prone, 40-70 degree RAO. More angle for large body habitus, less angle for long/thin body habitus (40 - asthenic, 45-55 - sthenic, 70 - hypersthenic) Center lower for asthenic, higher for hypersthenic. Remember that the stomach is on the left side!

UGI - LPO
Supine, 30-60 degree LPO (larger body habitus = larger angle).

BE - RAO/LPO
35-45 degree RAO or LPO, CR at iliac crest. Shows right colic flexure (hepatic flexure) and ascending colon.

BE - LAO/RPO
35-45 degree LAO or RPO, CR 1-2" above iliac crest. Shows left colic flexure (splenic flexure) and descending colon.

BE - AP Axial Oblique
Tube angled 30-40 degrees cephalic. 30-40 degree LPO oblique. CR 2" inferior and 2" medial to right ASIS.
If done PA - angle tube caudal, RAO oblique.

IVU LPO/RPO
30 degree oblique. Upside kidney is seen in profile, downside ureter is free of superimposition from the spine.
LPO - right kidney in profile, left ureter seen
RPO - left kidney in profile, right ureter seen
