The attempt people make to have people see them as they want to be seen.

People act in a certain way which reduces the likely hold they’ll succeed in a task so when they fail they can blame it in the obstacles.
Reported self-handicapping
rather than creating obstacles to success, they have ready-made access for failure.
Self-esteem
Refers to people’s evaluation of self-worth.
