Homeostasis

Receptor (sensor)

Control Centre
Processes information and determines the appropriate response (e.g., hypothalamus).
Effector
Organs or tissues (muscles or glands) that carry out corrective actions.
Negative Feedback
A mechanism that reduces or reverses deviations from the set point to restore stability.
Positive Feedback
Mechanism that amplifies or reinforces the initial change rather than reversing it.
Set Point
The target value for a physiological variable that the body aims to maintain.
Homeostatic Imbalance
Failure of regulation that leads to disorder or disease.
