what are the key complenets of MTSS?

1. High-quality academic instruction for all students in the areas of academics and/or behavior
2. Provides increasingly intensive support (use of tiered approach)
3. Requires a flexible school schedule and environment
3. Led by the school leadership team (principals and grade-level team representatives)
5. Use of data collection, data analysis, and data-driven decision-making
6. Grade-level teams assign students to interventions
7. Continuous screening and monitoring of progress

- administer universal screening to all students 2-3 times per year
- quick way to identify general performance levels
- results can be examined for patterns across school, at grade level,

- results used to assign students to tiers of intervention

response to intervention (RTI) is a framework that uses the key feature of school-wide support to promote effective instruction and support for learning. RTI focuses on tiers of support and data-based decision-making to benefit all student concerning their learning of essential academic content.
