Al-Aimān
The term meaning oaths.
Al-Yamīn al-Laghw
A thoughtless oath spoken unintentionally.
Al-Yamīn al-Mun‘aqidah
An earnest, deliberate oath which must be fulfilled.
Al-Yamīn al-Ghamūs
A false oath taken intentionally to deceive others.
Kaffarah
Expiation for breaking an earnest oath, which includes feeding ten poor people, clothing them, freeing a slave, or fasting for three days.
Al-Mash
Wiping with a wet hand.
Mash ‘alal-Khuffain wal-Jabirah
Wiping over socks and bandages with wet hands instead of washing.
Salatul Qada
The missed Salah (prayer) offered later.
Sahib at-Tartib
A person with less than five missed prayers.
Iman
Faith and trust in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and divine destiny (Qadr).
Islam
Complete submission and obedience to Allah; to testify faith, perform Salah, pay Zakah, fast in Ramadan, and make a pilgrimage to Makkah.
Ihsan
Worshipping Allah as though you see Him; even if you do not see Him, you know that He sees you.
Haya
Modesty, which is a branch of faith/Iman.
Qadr
Divine destiny; believing that everything happens according to Allah's knowledge and decree, whether it appears good or bad.
Sunnah (Hadith)
One of the two main sources of guidance for Muslims, representing the actions, words, and silent approvals of the Prophet.
Resident Mash period
The period of Mash allowed for a resident is 24 hours.
Traveller Mash period
The period of Mash allowed for a traveller is 72 hours.
