Why do you wish to be in the Australian Defence Force?
Joining the Defence force has interested me for a long time. I wish to join the Defence Force for a number of reasons the most important being the lifestyle aspect that its not just a normal 9-5 job in which you focus on increasing a private company's profits but rather about serving your nation and giving back to the community that you live in which makes it more fulfilling. I also see lots of opportunity for career progression and the opportunity to learn new skills and experiences that can help grow my interpersonal skills and also me as a person.

Why do you wish to join the RAAF?
After speaking to some of the recruiters that came to our school the member from the RAAF really interested me as I listened to their experiences being in the RAAF and the values of air force stood out as something I wanted to be a part of.

What are some challenges you will face at Initial military training
Just transferring from civil life to military life. Being away from family and friends is fine as I have stayed away from them on school camps and sporting trips. I also find a can make new friends fairly quickly.

I can adapt to different environments fairly quickly and make new friends as I have shifted schools internationally and domestically

What does the ADF do?

Initial Military Training
1. YOFT/AMET - 6 weeks at Canberra (Military Life, Military Drill, Development as a juonier officer)

Initial Employment Training: Location, Duration, Course content?
Air Intel Officer Fundametal course is phase 1:

* It lasts 11 weeks and is in the air intel training unit air force base in Edinburgh SA. It lays the foundation for a career as an air intel officer and gives theortical grounding in the application of air power and how intel supports missions

Phase 2 is AIOBC:

* It is 12 weeks and is at the kokoda barracks canungra QLD. This course gives more complex practical and theoretical grounding in the application of airpower and how intel supports missions

Prior to phase to that I would have to undertake Initial Defence Intelligence course for 3 weeks and Defence Intelligence Research and Analysis Course

Why officer not general?
As a leader, you have the oppoturnity to witness somebody achieve a goal that they may have not been able to achieve on their own. As a leader you have the oppoturnity to provide timely support and advice when required. I firmly belive in the ADF I will the the oppoturnity to futhur hone and develop not only exisitng skills but learn new ones.

\-Preparing and Presenting Intelligence briefs, conducting debriefs, providing advice to squadron members and commanders

\-Managing imagery and processing and analysis facilities

\-Analysing and preparing assessments of air-related activities affecting Australia's interests

\-Interpreting the significance of intelligence date/reports to the conduct of selected RAAF air operations

\-Assisting in the maintenance and monitoring of high standards of security throughout the Air Force

Why do you want to be an Air Intelligence Officer
I enjoy intelligence related roles such as gathering, preparing and presenting intelligence briefs and debriefs in which I can use my leadership and speaking skills. I also have great problem solving skills and can keep a cool head in difficult and tense situations and have good attention to detail which is required for the role so I know I would like the job. The job role also states that it supports the ADF operations and international security which means I will actively be involved in protecting Australia and ADF personnel.

RAAF Operations (International)
Render Safe - annually done by the navy and the army in the south pacific islands with the purpose of clearing remnants remaining from WW2

Gateway - ADF contribution to preserve security and stability in the southeast Asia. RAAF regularly patrol the north Indian Ocean and the South China Sea

OKRA - ADF personal contribution to coalition against the Daesh in Iraq and Syria. The ADF has personally contributed by deploying 700 personnel.

Bushfire assist - ADF contributing to the NSW bushfires in 2019 and 2020 in which the RAAF personally assisted by refuelled firefighting aircrafts

Flood assist - The RAAF personally assist over east in the floods and also recently assisted in the floods up north nearly the Kimberly

COVID-19 assist - ADF contributing to delivering and administer COVID-19 vaccines and tests

What is leadership
Leadership is leading a group of team members/subordinates to achieve a set task. A leader leads from the front of the group, influencing, motivating but most importantly positevly influences others. By influencing others, team members can achieve their full potential, it turn resulting in a better final outcome.

An officer is someone who can take the lead of a team.

What would you do if you were placed in a leadership scenario all of a sudden
I believe I would be a professional and organised leader regardless of the enviroment I am subject ot. I belive this to be the case as I exhit high amounts of adaptability, professionalism and mission focus regardless if I am in a foreign enviroment or not.

What qualities are requried as an offier/leader
Adaptablity - I belive this to be the case as I have epreviously shifted schools both domesticly and internationally. This has required me to fit in with new people as well as having to adapt to the new school ciriculums and making sure i dont fall behind.

Trustworthy- Trust creates a stable foundation for team memebers to flex and adapt and thirve in continues change.

I have played in many team sports before in which I have helped newer players. I was also training new team members that joined my workplace and tought them and gave them an udnerstand of how everything works.

I believe I have the required attributes to not only be an officer but to strive as one. I believe through my past experiences as a leader I have developed an understanding about the role that a leader plays in a team. During my time in the ADF and ADFA I believe I will have the opportunity to further hone and develop not only existing skills but also learn new ones.
