What does Karuna mean ?

karuna refers to the compassion that Buddhists show for the sufferings of everyone in the world

What does karuna mean for buddhists ? 4 reasons. 

1. feeling concern for the suffering of others 

2. wanting others to be free of suffering 

3. recognising when you yourself are suffering 

4. recognising that a person cannot be truly happy while there’s still suffering 

Why do buddhists believe wisdom and compassion should be developed together ?

because it’s not possible to have one without the other e.g a scientist might develop an explosive but without wisdom to understand the power of this invention and without compassion for others, he’ll sell the formula to sm1 who could turn it into a deadly weapon

What does ROKPA mean ?

• it means help or friend

• it’s the name given to an international charity, set up in 1980 based on showing compassion to others

Explain what ROKPA does ?

helps families out of poverty through better education and teach children the value of compassion

• involved in projects in zimbabwe, nepal, tibet 

• helps to run schools, provide education to thousands of children each year
