How does conc/pressure/temp affect rate of reaction?
INCREASE.
increase conc: more particles in same volume. Closer, more frequent successful collisions.
increase pressure: less space between particles. More successful/frequent collisions.
increase temp: particles gain more kinetic energy, more frequent successful collisions.
Dynamic equilibrium definition
The rate of forward reaction is equal to the rate of reverse reaction. Constant con of reactants + products.
Le chateliers principle
If there is a change in a closed system, system will move to minimse effect of change.
Changes that systems move to minimise:
Conc: shifts to side that has less conc.
Temp: shifts to endothermic side if increase in temp.
Pressure: shifts to side w less/more mols.
Kc (equilibrium constant)
Kc = products/reactants
catalysts
Homogenous: same state as chemicals in reaction. REGENERATED. Gas/liquid.
Heterogeneous: different state as chemicals in reaction. SOLID. usually a surface for reactions.
