less stigma over sex outside of marriage so did not see rush of getting married - de valued it

cost of weddings financial crisis - up to 40K for a nice wedding, therefore disproortionatley MC are getting married

2 reasons for changes in divorce

more oppotunity for women in workplace - meaning they can file for divorse and financially support themselevs

change in laws - divorce reform act 1969 (show two years of trying 2 signatures) THEN no fault divorse disolution act 2020 in effect in 2022 which meant one signature needed and only a 6 month cool down period so way quicker than historically.
