fissure vs sulci
fissure: deeper, more prominent and seperates important parts of the brain
sulci: shallower and narrower. surround the gyri
whats a gyrus
a ridge or bump on the brain
what is the cerebrum?
it is the main part of our brain and is responsible for consciousness. it contains the 4 lobes of the brain on each of the 2 hemispheres.
has the cerebral cortex and corpus callosum. responsible for coordinating movements transmitting, communication highways in brain, homeostasis, and processing data
what is the cerebral cortex
the thin outter layer of the cerebrum only about 2-4 mm thick and made of grey matter.
whats the corpus callosum
it is the bridge between both hemispheres of the brain and allows for communication between both sides
what is the diencephalon
it is the gateway between the pns/cns and the cerebral cortex. made of thalamus and hypothalamus. undernearth the cerebrum atop the brainstemn
what is the function of the hypothalamus?
located under the thalamus it is the central command station of the autonomic nervous system and primarily maintains homeostasis

what part of the brain is this
the cerebrum

whats the green thing called
hypothallamus

whats this thing in green
thalamus
cerebellum what is it
its under the cerebrum and slightly lower than diencephalon and connected to the brainstem. it is responsible for movement and coordination
whats the purpose of the brain stem
it is an information highway and control unconscious autonomic functions

whats the green
mesencephallon
what are the 3 main parts of the brainstem from inferior to superior
medula oblongata, pons, mesencephalon
whats a ganglion
a bundle of nerve cell bodies
what are the root contributions for the cervical plexus
c1-c4
functions: suppplies the skin and muscles of the head, neck, and diaphragm
what are the root contributions to the brachial plexus
c5-t1
functions: supplies the skin and muscles of the shoulder, chest, arms and hands.
lumbar plexus
L1-L4
function: supplies hips, and anterior thigh
sacral plexus
l4-s4
supplies the rest of the leg like butt, calves, feet
what are all the vertebrae from top to bottom
c1- c7, t1-t12, L1-L5, S1-S5, Co1-Co4
whats the deep groove in the brain the goes from side to side
central sulcus
whats the fold before it called
precentral gyrus
