- Peer reviewers who are invested in the current paradigm may not want to publish research that challenges it and may block findings that contradict their theories.
- Some fields have a very small group of experts they may make agreements to ‘pass' reports not because of the quality of the work but because of friendships, alliances or feuds.
- Studies have shown that where the experimental hypothesis is accepted, the report is more likely to be published this may suppress no effect findings which can be just as usual to furthering understanding.
