Battle of Plataea (479 BCE)
the Greeks then go and kill the left behind persians and they are so proud and egotistical now that the Persians are on their back foot
Battle of Thermopylae (480 BCE)
Greeks try to stop him then Spartans come along, they succeeded in a delay while Athenians fled. The Greek shepherd betrays the Greeks and tells the Persians of the Back Road pass, and they encircle the Greeks, and kill the Greeks. The delay gives the Athenians time to flee Athens to get to the island of Salamis.
Laurion Silver Vein/Mine (483 BCE)
Greeks discover a huge vein of silver in Laurion, and a debate goes on how to use the windfall (mined by slaves in horrible conditions) and they say give everyone a refund on their taxes. Themistocles goes against this idea, and proposes more ships and a stronger navy due to assumptions of unhappy Persians
Battle of Salamis (480 BCE, sea)
Try and lure the Persians to trap the navy, and the Greeks destroy the ships, and Xerxes flees, but leaves a land force
Battle of Marathon (490 BCE, land)
the runner to Sparta is the story we have of the Marathon Race. Spartans eventually came, but by then the Athenians somehow won, and no one really knows how or why, and it goes to their heads

Breaks Delian League because most of the money was from the Delian treasury

between Athens and Sparta (& allies)
Trirems
Mostly oar powered, and ramming speed is a short burst of high speed. Manned by freemen but poor (thetes), who want full citizenship, a say in the assembly of Athens, which is a link to Democracy. Manned by 170 oarsmen per boat, not counting the upperdeck sailors (100 ships would be 17,000 oarsmen alone).
