Carbonate
CO2 produced on addition of acid

NH3 produced on heating with hydroxide and Al foil
Nitrite
add H2SO4 and KI. If nitrite ions are present they oxidise I- to I2. Then add starch and solution should turn blue-black

add BaCl2, white insoluble ppt
Sulfite
add BaCl2, white soluble ppt (BaSO3)
Nitride
add NaOH and a piece of Al foil, warm gently and ammonia will be produced
Chromate
yellow, nitric acid converts it to dichromate
Dichromate
orange, OH- converts it to chromate
To get red insoluble ppt
add silver nitrate to chromate or dichromate
To get yellow ppt
add BaCl2 to chromate or dichromate
