A key constituent of Cottonseed Oil associated with male sterility.
Halphen Test or Bevan Test
Identification tests used for Cottonseed Oil.
Sesameseed Oil
Also known as Benne/Teel Oil; derived from Sesamum indicum and used for IM injection or as an edible oil.
Sesamol
A phenolic constituent produced from the hydrolysis of sesamolin found in sesameseed oil (sesamolin + pyrethrin = pediculocide)
Baudouin Test
An identification test specifically for Sesameseed Oil.
Coconut Oil
Derived from Cocos nucifera; also known as provincial oil or the tree of life.
Castor Oil
Derived from Ricinus communis (Tangan-tangan); contains ricinoleic and rinolein.
Ricin
A toxic constituent of Castor Oil that has the same effects as Abrin from the jequirity bean.
Peanut Oil
Derived from Arachis hypogaea; its byproduct 'oil cake' is used for poultry feeds.
Aflatoxin
A toxin produced by Aspergillus growth on peanut butter due to improper storage and drying.
Arachis oil
It is an ingredient of camphorated oil but is used mainly in the production of margarine, cooking fats, etc
Similar properties to olive oil
Consists of the glycerides of oleic, linoleic, palmitic, arachidic, stearic, lignoceric and other acids
Soybean Oil
Derived from Glycine soja; contains the plant sterol Stigmasterol and the antilipemic agent Lecithin.

Derived from Zea mays; used for IM injection and as an antilipemic agent.

Derived from Olea europaea; identification test is Millon's Test.

Olive oil extracted with hot water

Sulfur Grade Olive Oil
Olive oil of inferior quality extracted using Carbon disulfide.

A grade of olive oil obtained from fallen and decomposing fruits.

Derived from Theobroma cacao; also known as 'Food for the gods' and used as a suppository base.
Cocoa Butter Melting Point
The temperature at which cocoa butter melts, specified as 30ā35āC.

An antifungal compound produced by the pyrolysis of ricinoleic acid from castor oil.
Azelaic Acid
An anti-acne compound produced by the ozonolysis of Castor oil.
Spermaceti
A wax obtained from the head of the sperm whale, Physeter macrocephalus.
Cetyl ester wax
Synthetic spermaceti
Jojoba Oil
Derived from seeds of Simmondsia chinensis; contains eicosenol (21C) and docosenol (22C).
Beeswax (Yellow Wax)
Obtained from the honeycomb of Apis mellifera; principal constituent is myricyl palmitate.
