What is a scaler quantity?
A quantity that requires magnitude (size) but not direction.
What is a vector quantity?
A quantity that requires both direction and magnitude
What quantity is displacement/distance?
Scalar.
What quantity is speed/velocity?
Speed is scaler, velocity is vector.
What quantity is acceleration?
Vector
What quantity is force?
Vector
What quantity is weight/mass?
Weight is vector, mass is scalar.
What quantity is momentum?
Vector.
What quantity is energy?
Scalar.
What is velocity?
Speed in a stated direction.
What is the equation for speed?
Speed= distance divided by time.
What is the equation for distance?
Speed x time.
What is newtons first law?
every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force. So basically no force=no acceleration.
What is happening if the resultant force is 0?
The body is moving at a constant velocity or is at rest
What is happening if a resultant force is not 0?
the speed and/or direction of the body change(s)
What is Newton’s second law?
Force = mass x acceleration
What does this mean?
1 newton is the force required to give a 1kg object a 1ms-2 acceleration
Define weight.
How much “stuff” is in your body/the force produced by gravity acting on your body/the force produced by gravity acting upon your mass
