Steps of Sign Stat test (5)
Take each the value away from the other one (q tells u which one to do)
Count no of + and no of - (any = are removed from consideration since show no difference)
Choose the less frequent sign and name it S eg: S = 7. This is observed value
Compare observed value to critical value using correct criteria (level of significance, no of Ps, one tailed (non-directional) or two tailed hypothesis (directional)
Observed value must be equal to or less than critical for it to be significant
What is step 1 of doing a sign stat test?
Take 1 value away from the other (q tells u which one to do)
What is step 2 of doing a sign stat test?
Count no. of + and - and discard any = from consideration
What is step 3 of doing a sign stat test?
Choose the less frequent sign and call it S
What is step 4 of doing a sign stat test?
Compare observed value to critical value in critical values table using correct criteria
What is step 5 of doing a sign stat test?
Observed value must be equal to or less than critical value to be significant
