In this Image created by bank of America it shows 78% of small business owners saying inflation is their top concern. This is extremely important because this shows how important the market is for small business owners and how this can either negatively or positively impact their business.

When you think of coffee your mind might go straight to Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks or maybe even mcdonald’s. Something these business all have in common is they are owned by predominantly white men, they all have had a stable and comfortable upbringing.

Many times small business owners are dismissed and not taken seriously due to their race, their gender, and even their background

According to economists David G. Blanchflower, Phillip B. Levine, and David J. Zimmerman, discrimination remains a serious issue in business lending:
“Furthermore, even after including information on personal wealth in our analysis of loan turndowns, we find substantially higher denial rates among African-American-, Hispanic-, and Asian-owned businesses, relative to those owned by white men, and modest evidence that African-American denial rates increase with lender market concentration” (Blanchflower, Levine, and Zimmerman 938).

This quote unfortunately shows how race plays a big part in business success, when creating a business you put in a lot of money before earning back the amount you spent and loans are important to helping start business as well as keep them up and running.

The graph to the left represents data from 2020 before and during covid 19 the blue bar is supposed to represent the after and as you can see it has decreased rapidly over a short amount of time. During covid many small owned business had to shut down due to the lack of customers as well as the incretion of production and supplies.
