Nutshell of Heart of Darkness
‘Heart of Darkness’ is an 1899 novella written by Joseph Conrad in which a sailor, Charles Marlow, recounts his journey into the heart of Africa, where he witnesses the impacts of imperialism. The story takes place in the 19th century when European nations would establish colonial control in Africa in order to gain wealth and power from the extraction of its precious resources such as ivory.
