Cardiac muscle tissue belonging to the cardiovascular system.
Peritoneum
The serous membrane forming the lining of the abdominal cavity.
Epiglottis
The flap of cartilage at the root of the tongue, which is depressed during swallowing to cover the opening of the windpipe.

The main artery of the body, supplying oxygenated blood to the circulatory system.

Thin skin; a histological preparation of the skin found on most parts of the body.

Thick skin; skin found on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

Scalp skin.

Bone marrow; a primary hematopoietic organ.
Thymus
A lymphoid organ involved in the production and maturation of T-cells.
Milt
Spleen; a lymphoid organ involved in filtration and immune response.
Lymfeknoop
Lymph node; small, bean-shaped organ of the immune system.
Tonsil
Lymphoid tissue located in the pharynx.
Tand
Tooth; an anatomical structure of the digestive system.
Papillae filiformes
Filiform papillae; small cone-shaped projections on the tongue surface.
Papillae folliatae
Foliate papillae; short vertical folds on the sides of the tongue.
Papillae circumvallata
Circumvallate papillae; large, circular papillae at the back of the tongue.
Speekselklier, gemend seromuceus
Salivary gland containing both serous and mucous secreting cells.
Slokdarm
Esophagus; the muscular tube leading from the pharynx to the stomach.
Overgang slokdarm-maag
Esophagogastric junction (gastroesophageal junction).
Maagfundus
Fundus of the stomach; the upper portion of the stomach.
Maagpylorus
Gastric pylorus; the region of the stomach that connects to the duodenum.
Dunne darm, jejunum
The middle segment of the small intestine.
Dunne darm, ileum, peyerse platen
The final section of the small intestine characterized by the presence of Peyer's patches (lymphoid follicles).
Dikke darm, colon
The main part of the large intestine.
Dikke darm, rectum
The final section of the large intestine.
Overgang rectum - anus
The rectoanal junction.
Lever
Liver; the largest internal organ responsible for metabolic and detoxification processes.
Galblaas
Gallbladder; the organ that stores and concentrates bile.
Trachea
The windpipe; the cartilaginous tube connecting the larynx to the bronchi.
Long
Lung; the primary organ of the respiratory system.
Nier
Kidney; includes the outer cortex and the inner medulla.
Ureter
The duct by which urine passes from the kidney to the bladder.
Blaas
Urinary bladder; the organ that collects and stores urine.
Thyroïd / parathyroïd
Thyroid and parathyroid glands; endocrine organs in the neck.
Pancreas
Endocrine and exocrine organ located behind the stomach.
Bijnier
Adrenal gland; endocrine gland located on top of the kidney.
Hypofyse
Pituitary gland; the master endocrine gland.
Testis
Male reproductive organ that produces sperm.
Epididymis
A highly convoluted duct behind the testis, along which sperm passes to the vas deferens.
Prostaat
Prostate gland; a gland surrounding the neck of the bladder in males.
Zaadstreng
Spermatic cord; a bundle of nerves, ducts, and blood vessels connecting the testicles to the abdominal cavity.
Ovarium
Ovary; female reproductive organ where eggs are produced.
Cervix
The narrow neck-like passage forming the lower end of the uterus.
Uterus
Womb; the organ where offspring are conceived and gestate.
Eileider
Fallopian tube (oviduct); the tube through which an ovum passes from an ovary.
Grote hersenen
Cerebrum; the largest part of the brain responsible for higher order functions.
Kleine hersenen
Cerebellum; the part of the brain at the back of the skull that coordinates muscular activity.
Ruggenmerg
Spinal cord; the cylindrical bundle of nerve fibers and associated tissue enclosed in the spine.
Cornea
The transparent layer forming the front of the eye.
Retina
A layer at the back of the eyeball containing cells that are sensitive to light.
Ooglid
Eyelid; either of the two folds of skin which can be moved to cover and open the eyes.
Oorschelp
Pinna or auricle; the external part of the ear.

External auditory canal; the tube running from the outer ear to the middle ear.

Inner ear; the innermost part of the ear.

Fingertip; histological specimen showing specialized skin and sensory structures.
