Expanding air
The main reason a balloon fixed onto the mouth of a bottle inflates when the bottle is immersed in hot water.
Phenolphthalein
A substance identified as a non-natural indicator.
Freezing water
The process where the water's temperature decreases and its volume decreases.
Wool production order
The correct sequence of steps: Y (shave skin with hair) → W (wash skin in water tanks) → Z (remove fluffy fibers by machine) → X (straighten, comb, and roll into yarn).
Periodic Table groupings
The three main groupings of elements: Metals, semi-metals, and non-metals.
Gold
A metal characterized as soft, yellowish in color, ductile, an exceptional conductor of electricity, and having a melting point of 1046∘C.
Chromatography
A separation method used for pigment separation in solutions.
Evaporation
A process that occurs when a solution is heated and the solvent decomposes.
Distillation
The process of separating two or more liquids in a solution with different boiling points.
Magnetic
A substance with two poles where opposite poles attract and similar poles repel.
Decanting
A separation method where solids settle at the bottom of a container and the liquid is poured off.
Water boiling point
Standard boiling temperature of water at 100∘C.
Toothpaste
A soluble mixture that is classified as a base and turns red litmus paper blue.
Calcium
Chemical element with the atomic symbol Ca.
Fluorine
Chemical element with the atomic symbol F.
Filtration
The process of separation illustrated by a mixture passing through a filter where the liquid drips into a flask.
Mixture
A physical combination of two or more substances that are not chemically joined.
Filtrate
The substance that drips into the flask during the process of filtration.
Kidney
The body's filter used to get rid of toxins or waste products.
Radiation
The type of heat transfer experienced by a person on a bed directly exposed to a heater's heat waves.
Convection air movement
The process where hot air rises and fills a room from the highest point until the whole room is filled with warm air.
Air density
Cold air fills a room from the floor because it is heavier than warm air.
Air pollution
The environmental impact caused by mining operations and internal combustion engines.
Green energy
A solution to reduce air pollution by using renewable energy and electrical cars to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
Biodegradable material
Materials such as paper or organic material that can replace plastic products to reduce environmental pollution.
