The 'other side' of the debate, often introduced with the phrase 'Some may say…'
Your Side (Position)
The writer's stance on the debate, introduced after the counterclaim with 'However,' followed by reasons.
Introduction Template
Includes copying the question, stating the debate, providing a counterclaim, and asserting a position for several reasons.
Evidence Introduction
The specific phrase 'In the text it states' followed by the quoted material.
Analysis (Explanation)
The phrase 'This means that' used to explain the significance of the cited text.
Citation Format
The specific method used to credit a source: (Text #, Line #).
Proof of Argument
The phrase 'This proves that' used to link the evidence back to the main claim.
Conclusion components
The final section of the essay where you restate your position and summarizing the 3 main reasons.
