The Biosphere
The thin layer of Earth that has conditions sustainable for sustaining life and include all living things on Earth and what supports them
The Atmosphere
The thin layer of gases that surrounds the Earth composed of Nitrogen, Oxygen, and trace amounts of other gases
The Troposphere
A layer of the Atmosphere with temperature ranging from 15 to -60 degrees, this is the only layer that supports life and where most weather occurs
The Stratosphere
Contains the Ozone layer that protects Earth from radiation with temperature ranging from -60 to 0 degrees
The Mesosphere
Temperature ranges from 0 to -100 degrees
The Thermosphere
Contains very little gases, temperature ranges from -100 to 1500 degrees
The hydrosphere
Consists of all the water on Earth — solid liquid and gas, warmed mostly by the solar radiation and very slightly by the Earth’s mantle
The Lithosphere
The solid portion of Earth that sits above the mantle extending below the continents and oceans
