abide
To accept and act according to a law, an agreement; to bear, stand; to stay or live in a place.
acclaim
To praise or welcome; praise or welcome.
acoustic
Related to sound or the sense of hearing.
address
To speak to (a person or an assembly); to think about and begin to deal with (an issue or problem).
adverse
Negative and unpleasant; not likely to produce a good result.
affectionate
Showing caring feelings and love for somebody.
antiquity
The state of being very old or ancient, especially the times of the Greeks and Romans.
bombard
To attack a place by firing large guns at it or dropping bombs on it continuously; to attack somebody with a lot of questions, criticisms, etc. or by giving them too much information.
botanist
An expert in or student of the scientific study of plants.

A short period of intense activity; an attack of illness or strong emotion.

(Of things, not people) producing the result that was intended.
exclusively
For only one particular person, group or use; completely; without including anybody or anything else.
expire
(Of a document, an agreement, etc.) to be no longer legally acceptable because the period of time for which it could be used has ended; to die.

To feel and show that you are very excited and happy because of something that has happened.

Very tired, both physically and mentally.
fermentation
The process of chemical change caused by the action of yeast or bacteria, often changing sugar to alcohol; agitation.

The chemical element of atomic number 2, an inert gas which is the lightest member of the noble gas series.

Become subject to (something unwelcome or unpleasant) as a result of one's own behaviour or actions; induce; invite.

A person or thing that is the reason why somebody creates or does something; a sudden good idea.

To want something very much especially if it does not seem likely to happen soon.
merge
To combine or make two or more things combine to form a single thing.
monitor
To watch and check something over a period of time in order to see how it develops.
notion
An idea, a belief or an understanding of something.
nugget
A small piece of a valuable metal or mineral, especially gold; an idea or a fact that people think of as valuable.

To continue exist; to continue to do something despite difficulties or opposition.
pilgrimage
A journey to a holy place for religious reasons; a journey to a place that is connected with somebody/something that you admire or respect.

Thinking and/or worrying continuously about something so that you do not pay attention to other things.

Existing or most common at a particular time; current; predominant.

Estimated or forecast on the basis of current trends or data.

A person who searches an area for gold, minerals, oil, etc.
qualify
To reach the standard of ability or knowledge needed to do a particular job; to give somebody the skills and knowledge they need to do something; to add something to a previous statement to make the meaning less strong or less general.
refrain (from)
To stop oneself from doing something.
repose
A state of rest, sleep or feeling calm.
resolve
To find an acceptable solution to a problem or difficulty; to make a definite decision to do something.
rounding
Altering a number to one less exact but more convenient for calculations.
saturated
Thoroughly soaked; having as much as can be absorbed of something.
solemn
Done, said, etc. in a very serious and sincere way.
soluble
That can be dissolved in a liquid; (of a problem) that can be solved.
subscription
An arrangement to receive something, typically a publication, regularly by paying in advance; the contribution of money to a fund, project, or cause.
substantially
Considerably; mainly; in most details.
supernova
A star that suddenly becomes much brighter because it is exploding.
susceptible
Very likely to be influenced, harmed or affected by something; allowing something; capable of something.
telegenic
Having an appearance or manner that is appealing on television.
toil
To work very hard and/or for a long time, usually doing hard physical work; hard, unpleasant work.
torpor
The state of not being active and having no energy or enthusiasm; lethargy.
turbulent
(Of air or water) changing direction suddenly and violently; in which there is a lot of sudden change, trouble, argument and sometimes violence.
umpire
A person whose job is to watch a game and make sure that rules are not broken; referee.
unflinching

A print that is made from a pattern cut in a piece of wood.

To become or make less or smaller; to make a legal agreement with somebody for them to work for you or provide you with a service; to get an illness.

Belief in something as true; a quality that an idea or a story has that makes you believe it is true.

Delicious; attractive; extremely pleasant to taste, smell or look at.
delegate
To give part of your work, power or authority to somebody in a lower position than you; a person who is chosen or elected to represent the views of a group of people and vote and make decisions for them.

Skill in using your hands or your mind.
disconcerting
Making you feel worried, confused or embarrassed.
dreary
That makes you feel sad; not bright or interesting; dull.
eclipse
(Of a celestial body) obscure the light from or to (another celestial body); to make somebody/something seem neither exciting nor important by comparison; outshine; overshadow.

Set up; to discover or prove the facts of a situation; to make people accept a belief, claim, custom etc.

Clear; easily seen; obvious.

The activity of digging in the ground to look for old buildings or objects that have been buried for a long time; a place where people are digging to look for old buildings or objects.

To invent false information in order to trick people; to make or produce goods, equipment, etc. from various different materials.

A state like deep sleep in which some animals spend the winter.
hiccup
A sharp, usually repeated, sound made in the throat, that is caused by a sudden movement of the diaphragm and that you cannot control.

Very small and therefore unable to be seen or felt.

Done by accident, without being intended.
indecipherable
(Of writing or speech) impossible to read or understand.

To tell somebody about something, especially in an official way; to have an influence on something.

(Of a substance) that does not dissolve in a liquid; (of a problem, mystery, etc.) that cannot be solved or explained.
integration
Combining two or more things so that they work together; mixing people who have previously been separated, usually because of colour, race, religion, etc.
involuntarily
Suddenly, without you intending it or being able to control it.
latch
A small metal bar that is used to fasten a door or a gate; to fasten something with a latch.
legion
A large group of soldiers that forms part of an army, especially the one that existed in ancient Rome; a large number of people of one particular type.
listless
Having no energy or enthusiasm; lethargic.
moderation
The quality of being reasonable and not being extreme.
obscure
Difficult to understand; not well known, unknown; to make it difficult to see, hear or understand something.
opaque
(Of glass, liquid, etc.) not clear enough to see through or allow light through; (of speech or writing) difficult to understand; not clear.
pinpoint
Find or identify with great accuracy or precision; determine.
