Document 1

The Treaty of Versailles is not a treaty at all but rather a manifesto of the arrogance of victors, determined to crush their enemies. It is a shortsighted attempt to solve complex problems with punitive measures. This treaty imposes harsh penalties on Germany, disregarding the consequences such actions might have on the future stability of Europe. It demands reparations that will cripple our economy and sow the seeds of resentment among our people. The territorial adjustments made by the treaty ignore the principle of self-determination and will only lead to further conflicts. The League of Nations, established by this treaty, is a flawed institution that lacks the power to enforce peace and is doomed to fail in its mission.
